Ramu Ramanathan is a Mumbai-based journalist and playwright. His book 3, Sakina Manzil and Other Plays is a collection of eight Indian plays in English published by Orient Blackswan. Recently his collection of poems has been published – My Encounters with a Peacock. His list of plays includes Cotton 56, Polyester 84; Jazz; and Comrade Kumbhakarna; and Postcards from Bardoli which have been staged in India and overseas. His other plays include: Shanti, Shanti, it’s a war (1993 All India Best Play Award – The Hindu); and Mahadevbhai, 1892–1942, where most of the 400+ shows have been in schools, colleges and interiors of Gujarat, Collaborators (BBC Radio Playwriting Regional Award, 2003). Ramu Ramanathan is Editor, PrintWeek India – and has been associated with the print industry for 30 years.
