Pintu Das is a young Contemporary Dancer and Choreographer from Kolkata (India). He started his career with street forms and cinematic dance. After that he trained in Bharatanatyam and completed his Graduation in the same from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata in 2010. He also trained in Contemporary dance under Sudarshan Chakravorty and became a repertory member of Sapphire Creations Dance Company in 2009. He has trained in mind-body centering and improvisation under Michel Casanovas fom France. He has an organic approach to the inherent energy of the body and has been exploring this through his experience with various choreographers from various countries. In 2013, he showcased his first choreography ASPIRATION at Prayana dance festival organized by Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts, Bangalore in association with Goethe – Institute/ Max Mueller Bhavan, Kolkata. He has choreographed 2 more pieces- CHAIR-(solo) and HIJIBIJI – Emotions of Childhood (Ensemble). With Sapphire he has represented India at the Seattle International Dance Festival in Seattle, USA 2017, performed at the North American Bengal Conference in San Francisco, USA 2017, performed in EKOTOPIE KULTURY festival at KATOWICE in POLAND 2016, performed at Indian Cultural Center at Kathmandu in Nepal on the occasion of World Dance Day 2016, performed in Malaysian International Arts Village in 2014, performed at Russian Language Centre organized by Tagore Association, Singapore 2014, Performed at Kaushik Sen’s Macbeth at Shilpakala Academy, National festival, Bangladesh 2013, Special performance of Bali Dance Concert, Indonesia 2013, Rituranga in Bangladesh Dance Festival 2011, performed at North American Bengal Conference in New Jersey, USA 2010.
